Did you know that muslin used to be a luxury fabric as highly prized as silk? It dates back to 1298 CE, when Marco Polo described the cloth in his book The Travels. Muslin cotton is a very thin, transparent, feather light, breathable, durable cotton fabric that is loosely and intricately woven to produce a fine, smooth texture. (If you’re thinking of surgical gauze, you would be correct! A piece of gauze is 1 layers/2 ply.)
At Muslin Comfort, we use 100% pure ultra-breathable cotton muslin (no polyester fillers!) that is put through multiple softening washes to achieve its super soft feel that keeps getting softer with every wash. Because of the unique weave and layers, it naturally moderates your body temperature to help you get the perfect night’s sleep, regardless of if you are a hot or a cold sleeper. It’s lightweight, hypoallergenic, and resistant to microbes, mites, and allergens, making it a cozy blanket year-round.Although it is widely believed that the cloth originated in the Iraqi city of Mosul. it is now understood that the cloth likely originated in ancient India, which is where Muslin Comfort manufactures all of its products!
